Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared” – Closer to the Original - SneakerNews.me

For their upcoming anniversary, the Jordan brand is definitely bursting with sneaker news left and right. The eye-catching “Pink Dinosaur” and the high-fashion “Quilted Blue” were not enough — the Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared” made and owned its re-debut in the market last year. This model carries more of the traditional Air Jordan style and may appeal more to the male population who wants their shoes rough, ragged, masculine, and comfortable.

Release Date: 11/28/14
Price: $185

Black Infrared
On its first release, the Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared” was an immediate hit — and for a very good reason. This was reminiscent of the shoes Michael Jordan wore on his first championship: a combination of black and Infrared 23. Since then, the Air Jordan 6 has gone through changes with the most recent ones released roughly four years apart (2010 and 2014).

So what are the obvious differences between the two? Well, the newer version actually looks more similar to the original series. The 2014 Air Jordan 6 had a more “yellowish” hue at the soles — something that has been changed to a more ‘hot pink’ in the latest version. Plus, there’s the 3M reflective to be found under the perforated panels. Don’t forget the heel counter which now shows the Jumpman logo instead of the “Nike Air” branding used in the later versions.

Majority of the Air Jordan 6 is done in black with the soles a combination of white and hot-pink, unquestionably an eye-popping color. The materials used stay true to form with Nike using only top-quality ingredients to recreate Jordan’s signature shoes.

The distinctive jump man silhouette can be found at the bottom of the shoes as well as a few inches above the lace. You might also want to check out the edge of the sole — a faint blue color lining extending throughout the length of the sole. This is something you wouldn’t find in the earlier versions — and sneaker news is of the opinion Nike put it there to extend the product’s life.

Price and Release
The Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared” became available in the market last year, around the month of November, just in time for Black Friday. Fortunately, unlike the “Quilted Blue,” the Black Infrared isn’t being released in small amounts (Rumors note that Quilted Blue will only have 800 pairs), so there’s a good chance there are still a few more of those in the market, and Nike is definitely set to release some more — or design new ones for their Remastered series.
If you’re a big Jordan fan however, you should definitely opt for the Black Infrared since this is as close to the original as you’re going to get — so far.
